This summer I started my two summer internships. I dress pretty casually and wasn’t really sure what to wear. I knew my jeans, converse, and tank tops wouldn’t do. Lucky for me, my office was more casual, so I could wear jeans! However, I still had some trouble figuring out what types of shirts to wear. I was on a limited budget and I’m plus-size, so just finding clothes that properly fit me can be a struggle. Nonetheless, after multiple trips to my mall, I was able to find some great finds that can be worn multiple ways and are affordable!
Check out these awesome clothes that can be worn to your internship!
Cardigan from Target
Cardigans are the love of my life. I wear them all the time. You can wear them with so many things and they go with everything! They are nice for those days where I am getting dressed and half awake. I just throw on a tank top and a cardigan and can walk out the door. God bless the cardigan. Sweaters can also work if you are more of a sweater person! I have this oversized white sweater from Old Navy that goes with everything. It is perfect.
Peplum from Forever 21
I absolutely love Peplum tops. They are so comfy, but also look nice. You can pair them with a blazer or just wear it as a tank. Throw on your favorite necklace and earrings to pull off the look. It is great for dressing up or dressing down.
3. Printed Tops
Top from Forever 21
Printed tops are great because you can find them anywhere. They dress you up while still making you look casual. I also like them because you can wear them with anything (shout-out to cardigans)! Furthermore, if you have to wear dress pants, you can pair a nice patterned shirt with them.
Dresses from SheIn
Actually, I hate dresses. To me, they are the most uncomfortable things in the world. Yet, I have found myself squeezing into a dress and blazer at networking events. However, when you find that comfortable dress, you feel all types of emotions. The types of dresses I like are pictured above. I like the skirt/shirt combo but surprise… it’s a dress! Sleeveless dresses allow me to be able to move my arms freely and not be squished.
5. Flowy Shirts
Top from H&M
So, I don’t really know the official name for these shirts. I just call them 3/4 sleeve flowy tops (you can clearly tell how fashionably knowledgeable I am). I like these shirts because they are a little nicer than just a tank top. These shirts aren’t too hot to wear in the summer either. I also like that you can find this style of shirt anywhere (although I find the best ones at H&M).
Anyone can wear these styles of course, but these are the styles I wear and feel comfortable in since sometimes it’s hard to find clothes that are comfortable AND professional.
